Feasibility & Due Diligence
Before acquisition or design, we evaluate topography, drainage patterns, FEMA floodplain, utility availability, zoning, and the regulations that govern the site.
Design & Coordination
Site layout, grading, stormwater detention, paving, water and sanitary sewer. We coordinate with your architect, surveyor, and geotechnical engineer so all disciplines agree.
Permitting & Review
Submittals to the local jurisdiction, ARDOT, ADEQ (including stormwater NPDES coverage), and utility providers, prepared complete to minimize review cycles.
Construction Support
RFI responses, submittal review, field revisions, and record drawings through final inspection and acceptance of public improvements.

Karstetter Johnston is a civil engineering firm based in Tontitown, serving clients throughout Northwest Arkansas. We work across the full range of land development — from large-scale commercial and industrial sites to subdivisions, multifamily projects, and the water and transportation infrastructure that supports them. The firm is built on a simple principle: projects move faster and cost less when the engineer of record understands the governing ordinances, drainage criteria, and review process from the start.
Our experience as reviewing engineer for Tontitown and West Fork informs how we prepare our own plans: complete, code-compliant, and clearly documented. Licensed Professional Engineers lead every project, supported by civil designers who carry work from feasibility and site layout through grading, stormwater, water, sanitary sewer, and street design, and through platting, permitting, and construction.

Managing Principal · Civil Engineer
Clint leads Karstetter Johnston as managing principal and is a licensed Professional Engineer in 15 states. He serves as reviewing engineer for the City of Tontitown and the City of West Fork and oversees the firm’s commercial, industrial, and subdivision design.
Before founding Karstetter Johnston, Clint spent more than 13 years in engineering and design across Arkansas and Oklahoma, including three and a half years designing fire sprinkler systems. Most recently he was a project engineer at Development Consultants, Inc., where he led civil design for University of Arkansas projects including the Windgate Studio + Design Center and the Institute for Integrative & Innovative Research. Earlier, at HFA Architecture and Engineering, he managed more than 200 Walmart site layouts nationwide. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Arkansas.

Civil Engineer
Zak serves as the reviewing engineer for the City of Tontitown and the City of West Fork and leads site development projects across the firm, including grading, stormwater management, water and sanitary sewer design, and construction documents. He coordinates with contractors and municipal staff through permitting and construction.
Before co-founding Karstetter Johnston, Zak spent more than a decade managing regional infrastructure projects: as a civil engineering project manager at Crafton Tull, as a staff engineer at Washington Water Authority overseeing water distribution and FEMA disaster-recovery design, and most recently as a staff engineer for the City of Tontitown. His project history includes subdivision infrastructure for Rausch Coleman Homes communities and site infrastructure for the Walmart AMP and the Tyson Springdale plant expansion. He holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering and a B.S. in Biological Engineering from the University of Arkansas.
